Democrats blew a golden opportunity to prove they really care about inappropriate behavior and comments

With their obsession over President Donald Trump’s “locker room talk” comments and his alleged consensual sexual affair with porn star Stormy Daniels in addition to the sexual assault accusers of Roy Moore, one might think that Democrats find dealing with matters pertaining to sexual assault and other forms of inappropriate behavior and comments to be of utmost importance.

However, they have been pretty silent for two-plus decades about Bill Clinton’s sexual relations while in office as President of the United States in addition to the inappropriate photographs containing former United States Senator Al Franken, who resigned as a result of them surfacing.

The difference between the people discussed in these paragraphs is, of course, the fact that those in the first paragraph are Republicans while those in the second paragraph are Democrats.

However, Democrats had a chance to prove that it isn’t all about political party when picking and choosing whose inappropriate behavior and comments they criticize and remain silent about when recent comments made by 34-year-old Democrat Suraj Patel, who is running for a Congressional seat in New York against the party’s incumbent, Democratic Representative Carolyn Maloney, surfaced.

The comments made by Patel were made in several social media posts back in August of 2012. He pulled no punches when it came to expressing his attraction to a 16-year-old minor, Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney, who had just competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England and won both a gold medal and a silver medal.

Here are photos of the posts that Patel made regarding Maroney, who is now 22 years old.

In fact, Patel even made an inappropriate remark about the situation regarding actor John Stamos when he was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old girl back in 2010.

No, this really isn’t a political issue but rather a moral one, and political party really doesn’t matter, nor should it.

However, given the fact that Patel is running against another Democrat in Carolyn Maloney and the party really can’t lose anything from a number of Democrats perspective in this primary election, the Democrats blew a golden opportunity to prove they care about something like this even when it doesn’t involve a Republican — to truly prove that political party doesn’t matter.

But the mainstream media failed to make one mention of Patel’s inappropriate comments, and Democrats were silent.

No, Patel didn’t sexually assault anyone, and it would be moronic to even remotely suggest that. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

But just look at the obsession over Trump’s “locker room talk” from about a dozen years ago now well before he ever ran for office. Now imagine those comments having been made about a minor just five or so years ago, and I can guarantee that the comments explode in the media and the Democrats freak out — and not just because Trump is now President.

That is why I shared this article last month. I wanted to illustrate the evident double standard that is involved in this particular situation with Patel.

The media’s job is to sell stories. I get it. But was not sharing this story really in the interest of avoiding a dull story, or was it in the interest of preventing a Democrat from coming under fire for making inappropriate remarks?

Think about it. McKayla Maroney was an Olympic gymnast — in fact, a fairly recent Olympic gymnast — who literally just accused disgraced former USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University physician Larry Nassar of sexual assault in October of 2017.

When Patel’s comments surfaced, the Nassar scandal had spent several weeks in the national headlines. So don’t tell me that the reason the media didn’t push this story is because they didn’t think they could make anything off of it. That is simply not true.

Instead of pushing this story and essentially showing that they do, in fact, truly care about inappropriate behavior and comments like they say they do when Republicans are involved, the Democrats, notably the mainstream media, opted to remain silent about it.

It didn’t matter that Patel is running against another Democrat and therefore the party cannot lose a seat in June’s primary election. What mattered was that a Democrat was involved in this particular story involving inappropriate remarks, and the media just simply could not push the news as a result of not wanting to make that Democrat look bad.

Given Suraj Patel’s history with making inappropriate comments, it’s clear he shouldn’t be in a position of power and should not be voted for in June when that election rolls around. These comments are definitely not comments that are appropriate for any public official to make.

This wasn’t the first time he had joked about this kind of thing, and he has not even kept it to himself, not that that truly makes it any better. He has done it by publicly posting his remarks for the world to see, and he has done it on multiple occasions.

Yet there has been nothing but crickets from the Democrats, as once again, a person’s political party proved to be the key factor in terms of determining whether or not to push a story involving inappropriate behavior or comments.
