Frank Mason Wins 2017 Naismith Trophy Award

Kansas Jayhawks’ senior guard Frank Mason has won the 2017 Naismith Trophy Award. Mason, 22, led the Jayhawks to a 31-5 record and their 13th consecutive Big XII Conference regular season title. He also led them to the Elite Eight in this season’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, where they were defeated by the #3 seed Oregon Ducks as a #1 seed.

Mason played in 36 games this season and averaged 36.1 minutes per game, 20.9 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game, 5.2 assists per game, 0.1 blocks per game, and 1.3 steals per game. He shot 49.0% from the field, 47.1% from 3-point range, and 79.4% from the free throw line.

Over his 4-year NCAA men’s basketball career, Mason played in 145 games and averaged 30.0 minutes per game, 13.0 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, 4.0 assists per game, 0.1 blocks per game, and 1.1 steals per game. He shot 45.4% from the field, 42.0% from 3-point range, and 76.3% from the free throw line.
