Chiefs, Berry Reach Contract Extension Agreement

The Kansas City Chiefs and safety Eric Berry have reached a 6-year, $78 million contract extension agreement, making Berry the highest paid safety in the NFL.

Berry, 28, has been in the NFL for 7 seasons, all with the Chiefs. This past season, he played in 16 games and recorded 77 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 4 interceptions, 2 defensive touchdowns, 9 passes defensed, and 3 stuffs.

Over his 6-year (missed all of 2011 season) NFL career, Berry has played in 85 games and recorded 427 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 14 interceptions, 5 defensive touchdowns, 50 passes defensed, and 23 stuffs.

Berry’s career highs in a single NFL season are 16 games played (2010, 2012, 2015, and 2016), 92 tackles (2010), 3.5 sacks (2013), 1 forced fumble (2010, 2013, and 2016), 2 fumble recoveries (2013), 4 interceptions (2010 and 2016), 2 defensive touchdowns (2013 and 2016), 10 passes defensed (2012, 2013, and 2015), and 10 stuffs (2012).
