In what many people saw as the final game of the regular season that the #1 and undefeated Gonzaga Bulldogs had a legitimate chance to lose, the Bulldogs once again rolled to victory. They did so on the road against the #20 Saint Mary’s Gaels by a score of 74-64.
Bulldogs’ senior center Przemek Karnowski led the team with 19 points in the victory. He also grabbed 9 rebounds and have 1 assist and 1 steal. Gaels’ junior center Jock Landale led all scorers with 24 points. He also grabbed 8 rebounds. Bulldogs’ guard and Wooden Award candidate Nigel Williams-Goss scored 14 points and grabbed 3 rebounds, dished out 3 assists, and had 3 steals.
Gonzaga now sits atop the West Coast Conference (WCC) with a 26-0 overall record and a 14-0 conference record, as they remain the only undefeated team in the county and have not lost since last season’s Sweet Sixteen against the Syracuse Orange. Saint Mary’s now sits in 2nd place in the WCC with a 22-3 overall record and a 12-2 conference record. Both of their conference losses came against Gonzaga, and their only loss that did not come against Gonzaga was a 65-51 loss against the Texas-Arlington Mavericks (18-6) back on Thursday, December 8th, 2016.
Gonzaga is back in action on Thursday, February 16th, 2017, when they host the San Francisco Dons (18-8, 8-5) at 9:00 PM EST. Saint Mary’s is back in action on the same night when they host the Loyola Marymount Lions (12-3, 5-9) at 11:00 PM EST.
