Cleveland Browns’ linebacker Jamie Collins has signed a four-year extension with the team. The deal is worth up to $50 million, and $26 million is guaranteed, which makes him one of the highest paid (per year) linebackers in the NFL.
Collins was traded to the Browns in October by the New England Patriots in exchange for a third round draft pick, a deal that surprised many. Through the four seasons (and the seven games he played with New England in the 2016 season), Collins has totaled:
- 228 tackles
- 12.5 sacks
- 16 passes defended
- 5 interceptions
- 1 fumble recovery
- 10 forced fumbles
Along with these stats, he helped the Patriots win Super Bowl 49 and in the 2015 season, he was selected to his first Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro. Signing Collins to this long-term deal is very beneficial for the Browns, as he is a very athletic defender that can help the Browns’ recently lackluster defense in the future years.
