Phillies, Saunders Reach Contract Agreement

The Philadelphia Phillies and left fielder Michael Saunders have agreed to a 1-year, $9 million contract agreement.

Saunders, 30, has been in the MLB for 8 seasons and has played for 2 different teams. This past season, he played in 140 games and bat .253 with 124 hits, 70 runs scored, 24 home runs, 57 runs batted in, and 1 stolen base. Over his 8-year MLB career, Saunders has played in 702 games and has a .235 batting average with 526 hits, 298 runs scored, 75 home runs, 242 runs batted in, and 55 stolen bases.

Saunders’ career highs in a single MLB season are a .273 batting average (2014 with the Seattle Mariners), 125 hits (2012 with the Marines), 71 runs scored (2012 with the Mariners), 24 home runs (2016 with the Toronto Blue Jays), 57 runs batted in (2012 with the Mariners and 2016 with the Blue Jays), and 21 stolen bases (2012 with the Mariners).
