Maurice Watson Out for the Season with Torn Left ACL

Creighton Bluejays’ guard Maurice Watson will miss the remainder of his senior season with a torn left ACL that he suffered in Monday’s win at Xavier against the Musketeers. He is set to have surgery in two or three weeks, and his recovery will likely take between six to nine months.

Watson, 23, has been in the NCAA for 4 seasons, and has played both for the Bluejays and for the Boston Terriers. He is coming off of a season in which he played in 35 games and averaged 31.4 minutes per game, 14.1 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, 6.5 assists per game, 0.0 blocks per game, and 1.0 steal per game. He shot 47.4% from the field, 29.7% from 3-point range, and 71.4% from the free throw line.

This season, Watson played in 19 games and averaged 29.9 minutes per game, 12.9 points per game, 2.6 rebounds, 8.4 assists per game, 0.0 blocks per game, and 1.5 steals per game. He shot 50.8% from the field, 46.9% from 3-point range, and 69.2% from the free throw line.

Over his 4-year NCAA career, Watson has played in 119 games and averaged 30.6 minutes per game, 12.9 points per game, 3.3 rebounds per game, 6.7 assists per game, 0.0 blocks per game, and 1.6 steals per game. His career shooting percentages are 48.3% from the field, 34.1% from 3-point range, and 69.8% from the free throw line.
