Nationals, Harper Reach Contract Extension Agreement

The Washington Nationals and right fielder Bryce Harper have agreed to a 1-year, $13.625 million contract extension agreement.

Harper, 24, has been in the MLB for 5 seasons, all with the Nationals. This past season, he played in 147 games and bat .243 with 123 hits, 84 runs scored, 24 home runs, 86 runs batted in, and 21 stolen bases. Over his 5-year MLB career, Harper has played in 657 games and has a .279 batting average with 651 hits, 412 runs scored, 121 home runs, 334 runs batted in, and 58 stolen bases.

Harper’s career highs in a single MLB season are a .330 batting average (2015), 172 hits (2015), 118 runs scored (2015), 42 home runs (2015), 99 runs batted in (2015), and 21 stolen bases (2016).
