Jaguars To Hire Doug Marrone as Head Coach

After yet another losing season by the Jacksonville Jaguars led by head coach Gus Bradley, who was fired after the team’s loss against the Houston Texans, the Jaguars have finally made a decision on their next head coach. Doug Marrone will be the next head coach and signed a deal that is good through the 2019 season. Marrone was previously the offensive line/assistant head coach of the Jaguars and served as the interim head coach for the team after Bradley’s firing.

This will be Marrone’s second head coaching job, as he previously coached the Buffalo Bills in the 2013-2014 season. He was hired by the Jaguars before the start of the 2015 season.

This is a surprising move, as the Jaguars had interviews with coordinators who have been much more successful at their position, such as New England Patriots’ offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Atlanta Falcons’ offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan. The Jaguars did interview Tom Coughlin, who was hired as their executive Vice President of football operations (click HERE to read about Coughlin).
