Former Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith has announced his retirement from the NFL.
Smith, 37, played in the NFL for 16 seasons for those 2 different teams. He is coming off of a season in 2016 in which he played in 14 games and caught 70 passes for 799 receiving yards and 5 receiving touchdowns.
Over his 16-year NFL career, Smith played in 219 games and caught 1,031 passes for 14,731 receiving yards and 81 receiving touchdowns. He spent 13 seasons with the Panthers and 3 with the Ravens.
Smith’s career-highs for a single NFL season were 16 games played (2003, 2005, 2011, and 2012 with Panthers, and 2014 with Ravens), 103 receptions (2005 with Panthers), 1,563 receiving yards (2005 with Panthers), and 12 receiving touchdowns (2005 with Panthers).
