Most football fans never anticipated the day they would be seeing a penalty decided after the play. With the use of instant replay technologies, which are now being tested in football for the first time, officials can award penalties, review bookings, and more. While this technology is still in its infant years, or months for that matter, it still has proven useful, like earlier this month, when officials used it to Japanese club Kashima Antlers in the Club World Cup semifinals.
While some argue this technology makes the game more fair, and helps the referees make crucial decisions, many say that these changes ruin the integrity of the game. This also halts the momentum of the game, and if it is used too much then that argument is certainly plausible.
