The New England Patriots have signed 5th-year wide receiver Michael Floyd following his release from the Arizona Cardinals after he was arrested on DUI charges early Monday morning.
Floyd, 27, was arrested early Monday morning on DUI charges after falling asleep behind the wheel of his car and having an officer behind him notice that he did not go through a green light after it cycled through twice.
Floyd has played in the NFL for 5 seasons, all with the Cardinals. This season, he caught 33 passes for 446 receiving yards and 4 receiving touchdowns. Over his 5-year NFL career, Floyd has played in 76 games and caught 242 passes for 3,739 receiving yards and 23 receiving touchdowns.
Floyd’s career-highs for a single NFL season are 16 games played (2012, 2013, and 2014), 65 receptions (2013), 1,041 receiving yards (2013), and 6 receiving touchdowns (2014 and 2015).
This move is one that will rock the NFL, as the Patriots just signed a solid wide receiver at a low cost. Realistically, it is also one that ruins the integrity of the game, seeing has how Floyd’s illegal actions ended up rewarding him by moving him from a 5-7-1 team in the Cardinals to an 11-2 Super Bowl contender Patriots team.
