Rangers, Gomez Reach Contract Extension Agreement

The Texas Rangers and center fielder Carlos Gomez have reached a 1-year, $11.5 million contract extension agreement.

Gomez, 31, has been in the MLB for 10 seasons and has played for 5 different teams. This past season, he played in 118 games and bat .231 with 95 hits, 45 runs scored, 13 home runs, 53 runs batted in, and 18 stolen bases. Over his 10-year MLB career, Gomez has played in 1,204 games and has a .257 batting average with 1,003 hits, 572 runs scored, 116 home runs, 453 runs batted in, and 239 stolen bases.

Gomez’s career highs for a single MLB season are a .284 batting average (2014 with the Milwaukee Brewers), 163 hits (2014 with the Brewers), 95 runs scored (2014 with the Brewers), 24 home runs (2013 with the Brewers), 73 runs batted in (2013 and 2014 with the Brewers), and 40 stolen bases (2013 with the Brewers).
