The Los Angeles Rams and head coach Jeff Fisher have agreed to a two-year contract extension according to Ian Rapoport. The team and Fisher actually came to an agreement weeks ago. Overall, the announcement has shocked many, as it was believed to be Fisher’s last season as head coach for the Rams due to the lack of production.

Here are Fisher’s stats since 2012:

  • 2012:
    • Record: 7-8-1
    • Standings: 3rd in the NFC West Division
  • 2013:
    • Record: 7-9
    • Standings: 4th in the NFC West Division
  • 2014:
    • Record: 6-10
    • Standings: 4th in the NFC West Division
  • 2015:
    • Record: 7-9
    • Standings: 3rd in the NFC West Division
  • 2016:
    • Record (as of week 13): 4-8
    • Standings: 3rd in the NFC West Division

Looking at these stats, it didn’t seem like Fisher would be back. But the head office felt there is something special within him. Of course, Fisher will need to prove that he can improve the team, as it seems it will be another losing season for the Rams. After his decision to start quarterback Case Keenum over 2017 first overall NFL Draft pick Jared Goff, people were very critical after the Rams traded up in the 2017 draft to select Goff, yet he was the backup until week 11. The Rams play the Atlanta Falcons, the Seattle Seahawks, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Arizona Cardinals in their last four games of the season.
