Following the firing of former head coach Charlie Strong, the Texas Longhorns have gone out and hired Tom Herman to be the team’s next head coach.
Herman has just two years of head coaching experience, but they have been two good years of head coaching experience in coaching the Houston Cougars. In two years with Houston, Herman led the team to a 22-4 record, including a 13-win 2015 season that ended with a 38-24 victory in the Peach Bowl for the Cougars over the Florida State Seminoles.
This past season, Herman led the Cougars to a 9-3 record. They were the only NCAA football team to have knocked off two opponents ranked inside the top 5 this season, and the Cougars themselves were ranked as high as #6 in the AP Poll after pulling off an early season upset against the #3 Oklahoma Sooners. They also defeated the #5 Louisville Cardinals just under two weeks ago.
