Atlanta Falcons’ defensive end Adrian Clayborn tore his MCL and partially tore his meniscus in Sunday’s win against the Arizona Cardinals. Clayborn will have surgery done on his knee and will likely be out for a minimum of one month. This is a big blow to the Falcons’ defense, as they previously lost cornerback Desmond Trufant with a torn pectoral muscle.
Clayborn had 4.5 sacks so far this season and was a big part of the Falcons’ pass rush. Dwight Freeney is expected to start for the time being.
The Falcons are currently at the top of the NFC South, which has already surprised many. They still must face the Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, Carolina Panthers, and the New Orleans Saints. The Chiefs will likely be the toughest game of the five remaining games for the Falcons.
