Carlos Munoz, 24, will likely be the driver of the the #14 Chevrolet-powered car, which has been driven by Takuma Sato for the past four seasons, for AJ Foyt Enterprises in the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series season. AJ Foyt Enterprises’ cars will be powered by Chevrolet next season instead of Honda like they have been.
Munoz has driven in 53 races in his 4-year IndyCar career for two different teams. He drove in the Indianapolis 500 and another race in the 2013 season with Andretti Autosport, and he drove one race in the 2013 season with Panther Racing. In the 2014, 2015, and 2016 seasons, Munoz drove for Andretti Autosport.
Munoz’s career high Indianapolis 500 result is 2nd place, which he earned in the 2013 and 2016 races. His career best finish in the IndyCar championship standings is 8th place, which he earned in the 2014 season. His lone career IndyCar victory came in 2015 at Belle Isle.
Munoz is coming off of a 2016 season during which he placed 10th in the final championship standings with his top finish being a 2nd place finish at hte Indianapolis 500. He only failed to finish one race all season long.
Munoz is becoming a threat to win on all types of tracks, and he appears to have a bright future ahead of him after a solid start to his career. He has used his aggressive driving style to his advantage over the years, and he is especially good at the Indianapolis 500, having finished outside of the top 4 spots only once in four tries.
