Cavaliers, Smith Reach Contract Extension Agreement

The Cleveland Cavaliers and shooting guard JR Smith have agreed to a 4-year, $57 million contract extension.

Smith, 31, has been in the NBA for 12 seasons and has played for 4 different teams. He is coming off of a season in which he played in 77 games and averaged 30.7 minutes per game, 12.4 points per game, 2.8 rebounds per game, 1.7 assists per game, 0.3 blocks per game, and 1.1 steals per game. He shot 41.5% from the field, 40.0% from 3-point range, and 63.4% from the free throw line.

Over his 12-year NBA career, Smith has played in 839 games and averaged 26.9 minutes per game, 13.2 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game, 2.2 assists per game, 0.2 blocks per game, and 1.0 steal per game. His career shooting percentages are 42.3% from the field, 37.5% from 3-point range, and 73.4% from the free throw line.
