Texas Longhorns’ offensive lineman Kent Perkins, a 6’5″ 320-pound player, has been suspended for one game after being arrested and charged after driving while intoxicated.
“That’s not me. That’s not my character. That’s not what I’m about. I’m just ready to gain the trust back from those people, and I know I disappointed a lot of people, and the biggest thing right now is I just want to move forward, forget about this mistake. I’m a leader on this team,” said Perkins.
According to the witness, Perkins was found asleep in his car in the drive-thru line of a Raising Cane’s restaurant near the Texas University campus shortly before 3:00 AM local time. When a citizen told him to move his car, Perkins drove off and wrecked his car in a nearby parking lot.
Perkins will serve community service along with the punishment from the school in the near future.
