Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon, who drives a Chevrolet-powered car, topped the speed charts in the third practice session for this weekend’s Verizon IndyCar Series race, the IndyCar Grand Prix at the Glen, around the 11-turn 3.40-mile natural terrain road course in Watkins Glen, New York with a fastest lap time of 82.8008 seconds.
Will Power, Sebastien Bourdais, James Hinchcliffe, and Jack Hawksworth rounded out the top 5 fastest drivers in this practice session. Each of those top 5 drivers drive Chevrolet-powered cars except for Hinchcliffe and Hawksworth, who drive Honda-powered cars. Drivers of the Chevrolet-powered cars took the top 3 and 7 of the top 11 spots on the speed charts in this third practice session. You can see full practice results at Indycar.com.
There will be no more practice sessions before qualifications for the race. Qualifications for the race will take place today, Saturday, September 3rd, at 3:00 PM ET, and will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network at 6:00 PM ET. The lone practice session after qualifications will take place tomorrow, Sunday, September 4th, at 10:30 AM ET. The race itself will be held tomorrow, Sunday, September 4th, at 2:37 PM ET and will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network starting at 2:00 PM ET.
