New England Patriots’ safety Nate Ebner was one of the 12 players selected to be on the United States rugby team. Ebner is now the only active NFL player to ever qualify for a U.S. Olympic team.
Ebner will return to the Patriots in training camp after the rugby competition, which will take place from August 6th through August 11th. Ebner was drafted in the 6th round of the 2012 NFL draft by the Patriots. He has been a very impactful player on special teams. In 2013, Ebner recovered a fumble on a punt against the Broncos, which set the Patriots up for a game-winning field goal in overtime. Before joining the Patriots in 2012, he was an All-American rugby star at Ohio State.
