Chip Ganassi Racing’s Tony Kanaan, who drives a Chevrolet-powered car, topped the time charts in the 1st practice session for this weekend’s Verizon IndyCar Series race around the 4-turn 0.894-mile D-shaped Iowa Speedway oval in Newton, Iowa with a lap speed of 186.902 miles per hour.
The fastest driver of a Honda-powered car was Ryan Hunter-Reay, who was 9th fastest on the speed charts. Drivers of the Chevrolet-powered cars took the top 8 and 11 of the top 13 spots on the speed charts for this practice. You can see full practice results at Indycar.com.
Qualifications for the Iowa Corn Indy 300 will be held today at 3:00 PM ET and will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network. The 2nd practice session will be held tonight at 7:15PM ET. The race itself will be held tomorrow at 5:40 PM ET and will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network starting at 5:00 PM ET.
