Power Takes Pole for Road America Race

Team Penske Racing’s Will Power, who drives a Chevrolet-powered car, topped the time charts in qualifying for this weekend’s Verizon IndyCar Series race around the 14-turn 4.048-mile Road America natural terrain road course in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, with a lap time of 102.210 seconds, and will roll off on pole for tomorrow’s race.

Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Simon Pagenaud, and Helio Castroneves will round out the top 5 starting spots for tomorrow’s race, all driving Chevrolet-powered cars. The fastest driver of a Honda-powered car was Graham Rahal, who was 6th fastest on the charts and will roll off on the outside of row 3. Drivers of the Chevrolet-powered cars took the top 5 and 6 of the top 7 spots on the starting grid for tomorrow’s race. Josef Newgarden, who was just cleared to practice for this weekend’s race after sustaining injuries in a crash at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday, June 12th, will roll of 20th in a Chevrolet-powered car after being penalized and having his fastest 2 laps disqualified in the qualifying session. The final practice session will be held tomorrow, Sunday, June 26th, at 9:00 AM ET. The race itself will be held tomorrow at 1:15 PM ET and will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network starting at 1:00 PM ET.
