Kanaan Tops 3rd Road America Practice

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Tony Kanaan, who drives a Chevrolet-powered car, topped the time charts in the 3rd practice session for this weekend’s Verizon IndyCar Series race around the 14-turn 4.048-mile Road America natural terrain road course in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, with a lap time of 102.6580 seconds.

The fastest driver of a Honda-powered car was Ryan Hunter-Reay, who was 6th fastest on the charts. Drivers of the Chevrolet-powered cars took the top 5 and 6 of the top 7 spots on the speed charts in this practice session. Josef Newgarden, who was just cleared to practice for this weekend’s race after sustaining injuries in a crash at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday, June 12th, was 13th quickest during the session in a Chevrolet-powered car. Qualifications for the race will be held today at 4:00 PM ET. The final practice session will be held tomorrow, Sunday, June 26th, at 9:00 AM ET. The race itself will be held tomorrow at 1:15 PM ET and will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network starting at 1:00 PM ET.
