Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal topped the speed charts in the final practice leading up to Saturday night’s Firestone 600 with a top lap average speed of 213.935 miles per hour around the 24-degree banked 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway oval in Fort Worth, Texas.
In tonight’s practice, Rahal, who placed 2nd at the 2012 Firestone 550, led a group of 5 drivers of Honda-powered cars that were among the top 7 fastest drivers of the session. Josef Newgarden and Tony Kanaan were the only drivers of Chevrolet-powered cars in the top 7, coming in at 2nd and 4th quickest on the charts, respectively. Ryan Hunter-Reay was 3rd quickest, teammates Jack Hawksworth and Takuma Sato were 5th and 6th quickest, respectively, and Marco Andretti was 7th quickest.

With Honda Carlos Munoz of Andretti Autosport starting on the pole for tomorrow night’s race, the drivers of the Honda-powered cars look to be in position to keep their momentum rolling from the 1st and 2nd place finish on the high-speed Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Indianapolis 500.
