The Indiana Hoosiers and the North Carolina Tarheels are two of the best teams in the NCAA. Currently IU is a 5 seed and UNC is a 1 seed. Both of theses teams have five National Championships under their belts, and they both have developed some of the best players in the NBA including Micheal Jordan and Victor Oladipo. These two teams are set to play on Friday 25th at 9:57 pm. Let’s see how these two teams match up.
The Indiana Hoosiers :
The Indiana Hoosiers are moving of a 25-7 season in the Big Ten where they were the regular season champs. They are lead by senior point guard Yogi Ferrell who averages 17.1 points, 5.6 assists, and 3.8 rebounds. Against Kentucky freshman center Thomas Bryant lead with 19 points, and five rebounds. This dynamic duo in the front and back court will make hard UNC defense to hold down.
The North Carolina TarHeels:
The North Carolina Tar Heels are coming off of an ACC championship win with a record of 30-6. They are led by senior guard Brice Johnson who averages 16.8 points per game, and 10.5 boards. Their last game was against Providence and, once again, Brice Johnson dominated the game. He scored 21 points, and finished up with 10 rebounds. With Johnson’s great play making skills it will be hard for Indiana to keep the ball away from him.
These two teams have not met for 32 years. At that time Michael Jordan was a senior for UNC and it would be his last game for the TarHeels. UNC ultimately fell to the Hoosiers 72-68 as IU walked away with an upset over the number one ranked team. The question is what team will come out on top in 2016? Could one of these teams be the 2016 National Champion?
