Champions league quarter final draw: Barca meets Atletico

The Quarter final stage was set after the draw on Friday that was held in Nyon, Switzerland. With teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain highlighting the quarter finals.

The matchups are Real Madrid vs Wolfsburg, Bayern Munich vs Benfica, Barcelona vs atletico and in the soccer lover’s dream, Manchester city vs PSG. All these games are marquee matches but fans and myself can’t help but be anxious for the Manchester City vs PSG game. It’s Zlatan vs Silva, Toure vs Di Maria, Aguero vs Cavani what more can you want? Their will be two games and the winner on aggregate will advance. I believe PSG will edge out Manchester City with a final score on aggregate of 2-1. I really feel like the loses of Samir Nasri and Kevin De Bruyne will be huge of them and Zlatan will be Zlatan.

Another big match up is Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid who as we know are La Liga Rivals as Barca try to avenge their lose from two years ago. This is obviously going to be an intriging match up because of the fact that they play in the same League and with Leonel Messi involved it seems to be a good one. To me this is the second best quarter finals match up because of the fact that it’s a rematch and that they’re in the same league. I see Barcelona doing what they do and winning the match up and scoring at least 2 goals in both games yes Atletico has talent but the three headed monster of Messi, Neymar and Suarez will be too tough for a team that is missing one of it’s best midfielder in Taigo. Barca will move on to the semi finals for the fifth time in the last six years. Barcelona with a 4-0 aggregate win

Real Madrid vs Wolfsburg is another match up that I find interesting why you may ask? We all know what Cristiano Ronaldo is capable of but check this out: Real Madrid has made the semi finals the last 5 years and are destined to beat a very injured Wolfsberg team but you still can’t underestimate this team. They finished first in their group and defeated a good Gent team but Gent is no Real Madrid two completely different teams. I see Madrid comfortably winning with a 3-1 aggregate win.

Lastly, The Bayern Munich vs Benfica match up surely Bayern will win Right? No so fast Just 2 years ago Bayern was upset in the first leg of the quarter finals to Porto, a fellow portuguese club,  at the score of 3-1 but would miraculously come back in the second leg and win 6-1 giving them the 7-4 win on aggregate but enough about Porto. Benfica has Jonas who’s been on a roll and I mean roll with 30 goals in 34 appearances and a team that is poised for destiny after their defeat of the Russian powerhouse Zenit. Look I’m picking Bayern to win and to score goals as they always do but I’m just saying don’t sleep on Benfica or Jonas. If theirs a team that will pull an upset in this round it’ll be them but Munich’s star power and steel curtain defense lead my Goalkeeper Manuel Nuer will be tough to beat. Munich wins on Aggregate 5-2. As Bayern Munich, PSG, Barcelona and Real Madrid are my teams to advance
