Bracket Busted?

No. 2 seed Michigan State took a loss in the round of 64 today against No. 15 Middle Tennessee. This was a shocker to most people, as a large percentage of people who created brackets had Michigan State winning the big dance. They were out-played all game, especially being down by more than 10 at more than one occasion. They trailed the entire game. It was an all-around bad game for Tom Izzo and the Spartans as Middle Tennessee rolls into the next round to face No. 10 Syracuse. This has definitely been the most shocking upset thus far in the tournament, and possibly ever.

Other big upsets in this year’s tournament include No. 14 Stephen Austin over No. 3 West Virginia, No. 13 Hawaii over No. 4 California, No. 12 Little Rock over No. 5 Purdue, and No. 12 Yale over No. 5 Baylor. Through the first 28 games of the first round, the lower seed has defeated the upper seed in 12 of the games. There will be plenty more to come.
